Teacher Commission Policy

This page explains how HuTraits calculates platform commissions on educational bookings, how each teacher level is determined, and how cancellations, refunds, disputes, or manual adjustments may affect the commission applied to a booking.

HuTraits uses a configurable tier-based commission system. The applicable rate for each booking is determined according to the teacher’s effective level at the time that booking is financially confirmed in the system.

1. Key Definitions

  • Platform: HuTraits and its related website, application, payment, booking, and lesson-management services.
  • Commission: The percentage retained by the platform in exchange for operating the service, facilitating booking, payment, coordination, and support.
  • Teacher Share: The amount payable to the teacher after deducting the platform commission according to the approved rate at the time of booking confirmation.
  • Completed Booking: A booking that has been delivered and recognized by the system as completed for operational and financial purposes.
  • Level: The commission tier assigned to the teacher based on completed lessons or an approved administrative decision.
  • Manual Promotion: An administrative action that moves a teacher to a specific tier regardless of the standard automatic thresholds.
  • Custom Percentage: A special commission percentage assigned directly by the platform to a specific teacher and applied instead of the normal automatic tier when active.

2. How the Commission System Works

The platform uses a progressive tier system. As a teacher completes more approved lessons, the teacher may move to a higher level, which may increase the teacher’s share and reduce the platform’s share according to the active tier settings.

The teacher level is generally determined automatically by the system unless a manual promotion or a custom percentage has been applied by the platform.

The platform may amend these tiers, percentages, or tier names in the future to support operational, commercial, pricing, or system-development needs. Any such change will apply to future bookings after the updated configuration becomes effective.

4. When Is Commission Calculated?

Commission is calculated when the booking becomes financially confirmed in the platform, whether that happens upon payment completion or through the active operational confirmation flow at the time of processing. This means the applied percentage is tied to the teacher’s level at the moment the booking is fixed in the system, not necessarily on the lesson date or withdrawal date.

5. Commission Snapshot per Booking

Once a booking is financially confirmed, the system stores the applicable commission percentage and teacher share for that specific booking as a financial record. Accordingly:

  • If the teacher’s level changes later, previously confirmed bookings remain unaffected.
  • Any later change in level or percentage applies only to future bookings.

6. Completed Lessons and Their Effect on Level

Automatic tier assignment depends on the number of completed lessons approved by the system. Not every booking must necessarily count toward automatic advancement if it is cancelled, refunded, disputed, flagged for a policy issue, or not ultimately recognized as completed.

The platform also reserves the right to review completed-lesson counts where a technical, accounting, operational, or misuse-related issue is discovered.

7. Manual Promotion and Custom Percentage

A. Manual Promotion

The platform may manually move a teacher to a specific level even if the teacher has not yet reached the normal completed-lesson threshold for that tier, where this is appropriate for operational, commercial, or contractual reasons.

B. Custom Percentage

The platform may assign a special commission percentage to a particular teacher. When active, that custom percentage becomes the effective rule for the teacher instead of the normal automatic tier or manual promotion logic.

The platform reserves the right to amend or remove a manual promotion or custom percentage at any time where appropriate. Unless a financial correction or special settlement requires otherwise, such changes apply to future bookings only.

8. Cancellations and Refunds

If a booking is cancelled or refunded in full or in part, the resulting effect on commission and teacher earnings will depend on the booking’s final operational and financial state in the platform. This may include:

  • Removing the commission entirely.
  • Recalculating commission on the final net amount only.
  • Reducing or cancelling the teacher payout in whole or in part.
  • Excluding the booking from the completed-lesson count.

9. Disputes and Financial Review

If a dispute arises between the student and the teacher, or if a complaint materially affects lesson completion, quality, or delivery, the platform may temporarily suspend settlement until review is complete. Following review, the platform may decide to approve the booking in full or in part, issue a refund, adjust the teacher payout, or amend the booking’s effect on the teacher’s completed-lesson count.

10. Priority of Internal Records

The platform’s financial and operational records are the primary reference for determining:

  1. The teacher’s applied level.
  2. The commission percentage applied to a booking.
  3. The platform share and teacher share.
  4. The financial effect of cancellation, refund, or dispute.

If there is any difference between a user’s expectation and the amounts or level stored in the system, the platform’s internal records remain the governing reference unless and until an official review determines otherwise.

11. Future Changes

The platform may amend this policy, the commission tiers, the percentages, or the calculation rules at any time to reflect operational, pricing, compliance, or product-development needs. Changes take effect from the date the updated rule is activated in the platform or from the date specified in the related notice.

No level or percentage should be interpreted as a permanent, irrevocable right unless the platform has expressly agreed to that in a separate written agreement.
